Susanna Thorp interviews Dr Pascal Kaumbutho Interview and sound file from WRENmedia KENDAT, is a Kenyan NGO involved in Draught Animal Technology. It works to empower farmers and others to improve the working partnership between man and beast as well as help farmers with other forms of rural transport in order to market their produce. KENDAT has worked for some time through community radio and schools but a new approach to tackling rural development is being achieved through KENDAT’s support in the establishment of Community Parliaments. Accompanied by Pascal Kaumbutho of KENDAT, Susanna Thorp visited Lari on the road to Nukuru from Nairobi, where one of the Community Parliaments has been established. Standing in the market watching the donkeys bringing bags of vegetables from outlying farms, Susanna was surprised to see how the vegetables were packed for sale. Contributors Pascal Kaumbutho (KENAT) Interviewee and Susanna Thorp (WRENmedia) Interviewer Date created 30 / 03 / 2004. Funder / Sponsor: DFID Crop Post Harvest Programme.
